Quinte Fishing

Hey everyone. I will be heading to Quinte this Fri-Sun. Hopefully get into some eyes. I was wanting to bring up my 20lb propane tank to connect to my Mr. Heater and I have found some hoses that will connect the two however, there is no regulator? Even the Mr. Heater hose at CTire doesn't have a regulator. Can anybody tell me if a regulator should or shouldn't be used when connecting a 20lb tank to a Mr. Heater??

A regulator is not required. A FILTER is needed when using a standard hose as the hose produces particles under pressure which travel down the hose into the heater clogging it up heater if used without the filter. If it becomes clogged up, it has to be refurbished at the factory (I believe). Mr. Heater does sell special hoses that do not produce those particles. FYI

I've had 2 of these. the first quit after about 3 years and the 2nd quit after about 3 weeks. I think there is probably a problem with the 'safety shutoff' switch. I would just use a simple single burner that puts out the same heat, but with young kids, safety is an issue. If you're in the bush, bring a backup.

I have been using 20 pound tank for two seasons now without a filter and no problems at all not sure where these particles come from but if you think about a BBQ it don't have a filter and furnaces on propane don't have filters so you should be good to go

Filters are 10 bucks at Amazon. Ca. Cheap insurance.

Well, you don't have to take my word for it, the recommendation comes from Mr. Heater as per the following pdf file:

Go to the section that describes LP connection to a 20Lb tank. The disposable filter, #F273699 traps any oil substances when connected to a remote cylinder that can make the heater inoperable. {the "particles" I was talking about}

That again is their recommendation. The choice is always yours to make.

x2 Go with the regulator,Home Hardware is where i got mine

If you don't run a filter, it's only a matter of time before they clog up. There are so many tiny parts inside these units it's not even funny. I had mine clog up on me and took it apart and cleaned it. The part you screw the hose on to in the heater is a regulator. You screw your filter to that and then screw on the non regulated hose. If you use a hose with a regulator the heater will not work properly. It's your regulator that will clog up first. I took mine out and blew it out with a compressor. Works like brand new now, doesn't even sputter on low like it used too!

yup, I agree, 2 years ago I used my buddy without a filter for 1 weekend up north , ended up clogged , I never run it without the filter .

just ordered the filter from amazon and it is suppose to be here monday. cost me $18 just a small investment for a $120 heater

Got mine at Gander Mt a few years ago, ..I leave the hose connected to the tank all the time so makes turning on the pilot light so much easier,.
