Headed up to Quinte early Friday morning hoping to hit the hard water around 7am. Thanks to a set back at home and also all the accidents along the highway which at one point had us at a stand still for 1.5 hrs (hopefully everyone was ok) we got to Napanee for about 10:30am.

We hit the Huff's area for all 3 days. First day just half day fishing. 3 guys out and only hit 1 male eye about 3.5 lbs on a dead stick with live minnow. I haven't heard of them hitting the dead stick much and it didn't happen again for the rest of the weekend despite my buddy persistance with it. That fish would be his only one. We fishing some deeper water (33ft) and didn't move.

Saturday's plan was to get up and get out before light and meet up with another 3 buddies who left that morning. Needless to say only 2 of the 3 made it out that morning because our 1 buddy refuses to accept that fact that he has a low alcohol tollerance and had few too many pops the night prior. Met up with our other 3 buddies and headed a bit further south. We fished in 3 groups at different depths. Shallower (23 ft) started to produce mid-day with both shallower and deeper (30ft) producing later on. Biggest fish was just shy of 10lbs, a few 6's caught, a few 4's and 1 about 6"s long. Good to see all different sizes. Again nobody moved on Saturday.

Sunday's plan was again to hit the same area before light, start shallower (23ft) and then move throughout the day to try to intercept fish. Well now both of the guys staying with me decided to stay up and have some drinks and long story short it was only me driving the truck to the spot with my other 3 buddies following behind while the other 2 got to sleep in. Hit a couple 3.5 lbers right off the hop with another 6lber caught around 10:30am then time to leave so we could get back to Hamilton just in time for the storm.

All in all it was a decent weekend for me. Got into some good fish and learned a bit more. I wish I could get to quinte more often as I love trying to figure out how to get those fish to bite.

Great report. I've been there fishing with the guys who have low alcohol tolerance. Lol!
