Well, made my way up to Quinte again, surprised my wife hasn't left me... a 3.5 hour trip from Niagara turned into 4.5 due to poor road conditions...and instead of being set up and fishing for first light, we found ourselves just getting set up on Long Reach at 715. Set up at the bottom of the break in 30 FOW. As we were finishing setting up I told my buddy that I was going to quickly catch a fish while he was finishing getting his rods together. Dropped down my 1/2 oz gold buckshot tipped with a single chub. Dusted the bottom, lifted it up and marked a fish. Jigged it up and fish on, minutes into the trip. Landed her, a beauty just over 4lbs. This was going to be a good day.... proceeded to mark a lot of fish right until 1000, but only hooked (and lost) 1 more. Around noon my buddy said he was "marking a good one", followed by, "got him." I stood by and helped him land a beauty eye, just over 8 lbs. A couple quick flicks and back she went. Afternoon bite was slow, right until about 445. The fish came in waves, and between the two of us we marked and played approximately 20 fish. Lots of fun, but they would not commit. Small presentation, big presentation, head, full chub, two chubs, glow, flash, body baits, ...WTF?! Finally just before dark hooked and landed a 2 lb eater. Great way to finish the day. Ended up 5/6, so slow, but just enough to draw me back for one more trip.

Yep.....that's Quinte for you

After 3 weekends with very little success
Gave up and tried them 5 mins from home in Prescott on the Larry

Set up by 4pm...fought two massive pike...landed a nice 2lb eater walleye and lost a log of a walleye at dusk

Sorry Quinte.....for too many years you have lured me with 'guide' only Beauties

I'll continue to catch all the walleye I want a stones throw from my house!

Good job on the day. Originally from Niagara myself I can imagine the drive. Makes for a long day, especially that drive home if the action was slow!! I dread the thought of only a 45 minute drive now only to be skunked!!lol

At least you caught one...lots have gone home with that awful skunk smell. The BOQ offers a chance of catching a record breaking Walleye but can be humbling.

water-werx.ca sounds like you found a honey hole, can't wait to see your posts maybe you can include the exact location
