Went to Sherman’s to wash some lures, low and behold I forgot them at home, had to dig into the stash under the flasher bag, ended up using a red colored buckshot double tipped. Managed a 4-5 lb eye and 4 between 7-9 inches in 24fow…lol Tough walk out as the snow was blowing and not many trails to follow. Good thing for the Smitty Sled or I would still be out there cursing… Good luck to anyone walking on the weekend with more snow in the forecast..
Tim

Tim,

I know where you are coming from.

I would not have been able to get out to many spots without my Smitty Sled! :)

I have almost the exact same setup, only difference is I have the eyes on the underside of the front of the skies, this way it is pulling up on the fronts if there is deeper snow the tip are up.

So what's the idea there do you put your plastic tub sled on top of that?

Thats right gets it up on top of the snow instead of building up in front of the tub.

Makes pulling it so much easier. And it breaks down nicely, even had it in my car so I can take the small tub with gear and sit on a bucket.

I built a Smitty Sled on the weekend
But went to low with 2x6

Wasn't enough clearance... will go with 2x10 ....should work better

Also....good tip on putting the tow eyes on the bottom of the skis!

Hi Tim,

What looks like an eyebolt at the top of my ski's is just the knot to my tow rope.

The setup allows me to tow up like yours.

StonyPointwalleye....Sorry about that, didn't have my glasses on (getting old)......
water-werx,,, The extra hight makes a difference if your pulling a heavy load, and it fits well in quad tracks so no falling over and losing stuff...lol
