Quinte Fishing

anyone doing good south of the lott dam?? I haven't fished there in a few weeks and hear that the salmon are pretty much done with. I'm going saturday to see if I can find a nice steelhead.

I don't know about the Moira but I was in Napanee on Saturday and the water was quite high and rough. Didn't see any fish.

Anyone know if they're done or just gone out for a nap?

december and january should be some steelhead around, probably not the numbers they get on the tribs west of here, I just got a new disk drag fly reel that's begging to be tested out.

I would suggest that hoser is correct. I would want to target rainbows and brown trout now. Numbers have always been small but at least it is nice and quiet. Hopefully when I am home for Christmas in a few weeks I will be able to fish a bit myself.

Here is a tidbit for you. While fishing a small creek near Grafton about 5 years ago, I honestly and sincerely spotted an Atlantic salmon. I sure wish I could have caught him or her, as that is the one major project (in my mind) that I wish could have some success in bringing this former native species back. Heck, even with a strain that is technicaly not the exact original, I welcome it.

atlantic salmon that's like winning the lottery !! A friend of mine caught a steelhead in the moira a few weeks ago, so I'm getting excited about this saturday, takes some hunting and good polarized glasses, even still I've almost stepped on a few salmon lately that I didn't even see in front of me, I think they scared me more than I scared them.

If you really want a shot at catching an Atlantic salmon your best bet is to fish the Credit River. They've been stocking that river with mature and fingerling size Atlantics for the last few years.
