Years ago there was a group on Simcoe that would drive up to walk out guys and start talking and distracting while the other would still your auger.
we lost an auger this way. Heard they got caught eventually.
Sorry about your tackle, it can be very personal.

Happened to me at bear point (simcoe) this year. Buddy and I and another group helped push a 4x4 truck out that was blocking the ATV access it was stuck pretty good until, my buddy notice it was a 4x4 that was only in 2 wheel drive. So my buddy said to the guy hey put it in four wheel and the guy just drove out. We get to our spot 5min ride to find my tackle bag ($400 worth of ***) gone from under my clam. Drove back to the access and they where gone. Don't think i'll be helping anyone else anymore at least not get off my bike. Which is pretty sad. Lures can be replaced but trusting another fisherman when they need help will be hard.

Can't wait thou heading to CS with the wife next sunday for a few days. Booked Pb & J for a monday hog hunt i hope. lol

Sorry I too lost family tackle that way(i believe can not prove it though) as well 5 years ago, stuff from my dad and uncle from the 60's. Funny part was the stuff only went to the shack that day so as to fish old stuff and clean up the lures. Sorry for your loss and may the "A"holes find a bad piece of ice.

I know it's been said before but......put your stuff away boys! How many threads on here this year so far just like this? I realize it's brutal that people can't be trusted but that's the world we live in these days. People with nothing have nothing to lose. Why even chance it.....especially with Grampa's spoons?

Just to add to this, some POS lowlife stole some poles, a camp stove and some lures out of a permanent hut on West Lake. Basically ruined a family's family day. Not only that, but had the gall to sit in the hut for a while and smoke while fishing....sad times.

When I go anywhere I leave nothing to chance. I lock everything up, even the ramps in the back of my truck. I even lock my trailer to my truck hitch and back it up against something. There is a lot of good folks out there that I will continue to assist when needed but I will not present the opportunists with the opportunity. We never locked up our permanent shacks and left nothing in them to steal, no damage no loss. There has been good guys and bad guys forever.
