spider I don't think that but apparently some of these guys think that because you support a small derby in case you haven't heard small big fish derbies will bring an end to walleye fishing, then we can have a biggest sunfish derby

It's not what people are saying at all. Many members of this board and others are trying to promote the release of trophy spawners. Small Derbies or big derbies that reward the participants a Prize for killing trophy fish goes against the message many anglers are trying to convey. Sorry you miss the piont, nobody is saying the Walleye fishery is going to end, but many want to perserve what Quinte is all about for the future and Big Fish kill derbies do not help get the message out. There are better and more fun ways to have a successfull small derby or big derby and also get the message out to other anglers. It just dosn't sit well with me that on one hand I support and applaud the fishers that do there part to protect the trophy spawners, and then particpate in an event that rewards people for killing those same spawners.

I have missed nothing........ only side I am on is my own side and that's my choice not to keep or kill big fish if at all possible for any reason. you are right . it dosnt sit well with me for someone on one hand to say put big fish back its wrong to take them yet once someone pays me to take them out on a charter it now becomes ok for them to take the big fish. is that not a bit of a double standard?? . I guess my problem is im on the fence and I can clearly see both sides of the argument this is why I cant say to one side they are totally wrong and then say the other side is totally right . and the only possible solution is to bring back a keeper slot that makes it illegal to take any fish over a mandated length regardless of the reason to preserve big spawning fish. I doubt that will ever happen because guys want a trophy to hang on there wall. trust me I do get the points made on both sides

Maybe we'll see a trophy tag system someday. You want to keep a 10lb + trophy size fish then you pay extra for a trophy tag. Trophy hunter gets to keep his wallhanger and MNR gets more money. It's a win win for everybody lol
