Lake Simcoe Jumbos??

Just a shot in the dark here, but just wondering if anybody had any info they'd be willing to share. I've never ice fished Simcoe, but thinkin about giving it a shot for some Jumbos. Basically just looking for an access point on the south end somewhere. Not too worried about techniques or landing 100 fish, but I would just like to get out there with a decent shot at maybe getting a few.

Check out the blueicereport on YouTube.
They usually report on ice conditions and have access points

Virginia Beach and Beaverton are good spots. Not sure of parking in VB. Check the fishing lake simcoe message board.

Hey Tom, anywhere on Cooks Bay sounds like good perch grounds to me. Head up hwy 12 turn left to Keswick, maybe google Casey's or head to Beaverton... Lakers and Whyties,I think are on the other side

Lots of good outfitters in the area.

Thanks Randy...Have you been out there lately?? I was talking to a guy I know and he mentioned Beaverton and a couple other spots, but too far to walk he said. Is Cooks Bay/Keswick within walking distance?? I don't really want to rent a hut. Just looking for somewhere to walk out and set up the portable. Just a day to get out there....

You can try the west side at innisfil beach park. Take 400 north to Barrie turn off on innisfil beach road follow to the end and park is on the left . Its a 10 dollar parking fee but the walk is easy, about 100 or 200 yards. And if you want to try for white fish go out to 80 fow and jig half and half williams spoons or bad boyz on the bottom . gl and tight lines ...Simon..

If you are looking for jumbos. I would stick to beaverton. It is a long walk but you could probably slip Floyd hales 5 or 10 bucks and the bombardier driver will get you out to the perch grounds.

You can access and park on the Haden Rd access near Virginia beach. Ducos point has been good, but that's a long walk!!!!!!. If u go to Haden Rd u will see all the huts out there and you could walk the access Rd to Georgina island. Your not allowed to drill holes within a certain distance of the access Rd. I forget the exact distance????? Ther are signs there adviseing you the distance u must be away from the access Rd. But that would be an easy walk on the Rd. There is allot of snow there though!!

I was out this past weekend (Saturday) with Casey's in Port Bolster, fished from about 830-4 and only caught two little dinky perch. Was sitting out in 28' feet of water on the 'perch grounds' but the underwater camera revealed pretty much a desolate area. Guessing they were not there. Saw a school of Herring, and likely some whities... but nothing wanted to commit. Everyone else that was there that day was saying the same things. Where they access the ice at Casey`s people were driving out onto the ice and parking there- lots of vehicles. This was my first time there, but would certainly try it again, but walking out on my own. Best of luck

Guys...above is a map to an event called Perch'in for MS on Lake Simcoe out of the Sibbald Provincial Park Area (March 7th)

The organizer is a friend of mine. Great event, great cause, great prizes and sponsors, but I believe the event is sold out for this year due to popularity but you may want to keep in on your radar screens for next year.

Hope the map is of some use.

Jacksons point, Google Bonnie Boats and find the public parking right near there. Or drive out, the ice is plenty thick. Short walk1/2-1km walk max and you are in 25 FOW. Always do well there towards late season. Good luck

We have been doing fairly well off Willow Beach the last two weekends. Not huge numbers of fish but quality 10-14" fish. 35' of water, but it's a long walk (2km). There are plenty of walkers fishing in closer and they all say they are catching as well. I don't know what size because us fishermen don't share that too easily

There is a parking lot at Willow Beach just west of Kennedy Rd sandwiched between Lake Dr and Metro Rd. On the weekend you should be there by 7am, after that the parking is at a premium. Some guys are parking on the lake but there is a lot of snow on the lake.
