Wellers bay perch info???/ ice access???

good afternoon,

just curious is anyone is having any luck out there for perch and how would I go about accessing the ice? I have never fished it before but have read good things

any info would be appreciated

Blakely side road boat launch, smokes point, Edwards dr boat launch or end of road, all access points. Lots of decent perch in wellers. Some over 12".

Might be a silly question, but are you allowed to be out on Quinte now that walleye are closed? I'd like to do some perch fishing, (visiting in laws in Trenton over March break with the kids) but would MNR say that I'm targeting walleye since there are so many in the area? Thanks for any thoughts on this

Perch open all year, pike till mar. 31, you can most definitely be out there. I'm out now targeting lakers. Just don't target walleye. If you do hook one you need to unhook it and put it back, even taking a picture is considered keeping it.

So was that "almost a Jumbo" caught on BOQ or Wellers?? You posted the same picture on a different thread saying it was the Bay....

He is not asking if is"almost a jumbo" he's asking if it came from Wellers Bay or the Bay of Quinte.

A jumbo in my books is a 13"+ yellow belly.
But as we'll all know, the best eating ones are 9"-12", and bigger that that you are just catching swiming egg sacks

I'm truely sorry I misunderstood what a jumbo was. I thought a 12" perch was a jumbo but I've been wrong in the past. Please forgive me.

Fishnmagician, you're right, that is a very "decent" perch as you said. Nice catch and I'm sure the OP appreciated your help answering his question.

The term Jumbo came up in this conversation because these pictures were posted in a different thread about Lake Simcoe Jumbo Perch a few weeks ago. I guess a new thread should've been started there also about Quinte Perch. It was mentioned that the fish was caught in the BOQ, and now posted on a thread about Wellers Bay perch. I just thought some of the perch fishermen would like to know where it was actually caught....that's all....
