Quinte Fishing

So I've done my share of smelt runs in the muskoka area over the years, but have never heard of any in the BOQ region, always had fun getting a few smelt as they are tasty too, anyone know where I might be able to score a meal of these little guys or if there are any runs in the area? Thanks for any thoughts

Years ago (70's, early 80's) you use to be able to get lots of them over in prince edward county(west pt,salmon pt,point petre etc) but they were pretty much decimated by mid-late 80's-early 90's. The lake was getting stocked or pumped full of splake\lake trout and salmon back in the mid 80's to early 90's and I believe that is what was the major factor in the demise of the smelts. I don't even think you could go over there and get a hand full now if you tried, I'm not sure, it has been awhile since I have seen a smelt. I imagine there is still the odd one around but not in the numbers like years past.

Best place I know is at the super market. They're pretty well long gone.
