Hey Folks, I'm still waiting for everyone's report from the weekend. There were more boats in Picton this weekend than I see during the summer. I guess the secret's out.

I went to Picton this weekend to visit family and knew I wouldn't have time to participate in the tournament but brought my rods just in case I had time to cast a few. Well like the good son I am I stopped by Picton Harbour on Friday night before I went to my moms. :)

What a beautiful view in the harbour at night. I got there around 8 pm and it was snowing lightly. The lights around the harbour lit everything up nicely so it was a pleasure to cast around for awhile. There were tons of baitfish surfacing and a few larger roles at the surface that hinted of walleye. I fished for about an hour and had one "tug" but got nothing.

I got up early Saturday morning and went down to the harbour again. There were lots of folks heading out for deeper water. I fished there for about 2 hours and didn't get a bite. I thought I would head to McFarland Park which is between Merlands and the ferry but realized about half way down the lane that my all season radials were worth a damn in snow so I turned around before I got to the bottom.

After the hockey game Saturday night (Leafs in overtime), I went down to the harbour again and within a few casts landed a nice 6 1/2 pounder. Luckily there were some guys from Trenton there and one of them netted it for me. I'm glad someone was organized. I had two more hits but they weren't hitting hard and I had to call it a night when the harbour iced over and my lewer had a hard time breaking the surface. I went back to moms apartment building and cleaned the fish on the hood of my car. What a sight that would have been had someone looked out their window and saw me cleaning a fish at 1 am. Fortunately no cops showed up so I guess I wasn't seen.

On Sunday I took the ferry on my way home and fished from the Aldolphostown side peer for a couple of hours. It was sheltered from the wind and it was rather choppy out. I had one hit but it was a light one. I must say that I enjoyed fishing from shore almost as much as from a boat and there are plenty of places in the bay where you can do this.

By the way, I caught my walleye on a Williams Wabbler. No Doctor Deaths in my tackle box. :)

Birdman,

Everyone wants to know about the dock or shore fishing and you just answered everyone's question.

Good for you in the harbour, we thought of going on Sat night but we were beat from the full day on the water.

Cheers

David
