Yes thanks Scott I drew a box from lake St Clair to Ottawa river and North to around Pembroke area. Maybe I'll try again and just select the lakes I fish or would it matter?

Did you not get the data on the lakes you fish? Anything inside the box you draw should have been downloaded onto the card.

I have a bit of an issue with my Navionics + chip that I really can't figure out. When I have Fish'n Chip view off, everything is fine but when I turn it on, the map shifts about 150 feet to the South. My GPS position remains constant in both modes but with Fish'n Chip turned on, all structure and land masses are shifted. If I'm driving through a narrow channel for example, my boat and trail shows up on land unless I turn Fish'n chip off. Known structure out in the lake where I have place waypoints is also shifted in Fishn Chip mode. It seems to apply all over the areas I fish including Huron, Erie, Nipissing and Ontario.

Any ideas would be welcomed...

Take a look on the webapp here. http://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en . Zoom in on your area and turn the SonarCharts data on (same as turning on your fish n chip layer) by clicking the little sounder icon in the bottom left hand corner. If it doesn't shift map data on the webapp there there is an issue either with your card or the chartplotter.

Start by updating your Navionics card. Then if that doesn't do it update your Chartplotter Software.

Hope that helps.

Scott

Well Scott, thanks for your help but this really has me baffled. The web app works fine so I tried my Nav+ card in two different chartplotters and here is what I see on all three of them The nav chart is on the left and the sonar chart is on the right in each screen shot. I am really not worried about the channels being out of whack but the structure is all out too, this is just a good way to show it:

Image

And another example (the yellow trail is hard to see but it's 150' above the channel in the mud):

Image

I updated the unit software just to be sure and then reluctantly paid 99 bucks to renew my Nav+ freshest data subscription. I updated the card and still have exactly the same thing (only with new funky look unit software);

Image

I can't seem to find any sort of help line from Navionics but I am now thoroughly convinced it's an issue with their card and not my machine(s). Any other ideas????

Here is a tech support number that should get you somewhere.

1-800-848-5896

Keep me informed if you don't get anywhere but that should get you help.

Scott

Apparently this is a common problem with this chip and it appears this way on everybody's units but it only really happens in some of the smaller harbours. It does in fact shift on the web app too now that I look more closely. Navionics claims it will be fixed in the near future through the updates. It was recommended that you do not use the Fish'n Chip (sonar chart) mode for navigation within small harbours for the time being. I am going out tomorrow to try and verify the the actual contours & structure out in the lake are accurate but I am assured they are..... I really didn't notice any issues last year at all, it just became apparent while I was tidying up trails and waypoints over the winter.

The beauty of the SonarCharts layer (fish n chip) is that recording and uploading the sonar logs will clean up a lot of this stuff. The SonarCharts technology is amazingly simple and effective.

Here are some pictures of the difference my logs made on west lake.

Logs recorded (there was a couple other logs recorded for this area too)
