With the forecast of calm waters, I took the boys out for their first trip out from Wellington on the big lake. We began the trip with a refresher run down on the boat and made sure they both knew how to shut it down and handle it properly. I only ran two riggers to keep things simple.

It didn't take long to get into the first couple of lakers. But the fun really began when we got a double header. I shut the boat down and began the task of holding onto two rods with the boys cranking away and them holding on for all they could. They did a great job and both ended up with big smiles and high fives for their first big fish double header. They had enough after all that excitement so we headed back in.

Keeping things simple, making sure they understand the operation of the boat and not pushing them to stay longer were a few of the things that made this trip such a great time for us.

very nice, Appreciate the advice with fishing with kids, i am still at the start of my fishing journey with my son.
He turned a quick pan fish outing, into about 4 hours, every time i said we go home now he would get mad. needless to say only 2, and has no concept of time.

awesome stuff!!!!!

can't beat lakers for consistent action.

if I see them on the finder, I can catch them....only fish easier to get to bite are pike....

such a great species for "fun fishing".

Thanks everyone. The bugs were not too bad, but then Bill's mojo also doubles to keep them away. :D
