With the diminished winds and the promise of sun, I was joined by my wife for some fishing on Saturday morning. We began to troll near Carp Cove and trolled past Shermans with the Many boats all buzzing around eagerly looking for fish.
From the lack of nets over the side, we headed to the High Shore, where we marked some fish in 36 feet of water. She was running an Orange Uzick spinner back 72 feet.
Magic Words - "Fish On" or perhaps " I think I have one???"
She slowly brought the fish to net and it was ours, a nice 20.5 inches around 3lbs, perfect for supper.
Back to the dock at 1230, about 3 hours of fishing. The fish was fabulous done with veggies in a parchment paper pouch and tin foil on the Barbie.
Sunday, Laker John joined me and we headed for the cement plant and some deep water trolling, began to fish at 0820 and at 0835, the planer bpard fired and John was into a fish. Got the board off and then 50 feet of line and the net was slipped under a 23 inch eye.
Boy- have we got this aced?????? Fifteen minutes and a fish in the well.
To make a long story short, we had one more hit and the hook pulled out as it turned at the net. Oh well 1 for 2.
That was IT, called it a day at 1500hrs. A lot of trolling and not much catching.
Pulled the boat at Shermans and headed to Bayview.
A tough day, lots of that white dogwood fluff and it formed into scum lines, which we had to avoid like the plaque as it sure gummed the planer boards and it was on the line, will be glad when those things are down.
Hopefully some time next weekend we'll be back out with the new hardware installed.
Stay Tuned.
