My family and I are staying at Fernleigh lodge during the 4th week of July and never fished Kashwakamak Lake (formally known as Long lake) in Land O’Lakes region and want to get my daughters into fishing. All I know that it has bass and pike, so are there any useful information to share?

One end is all stumps I beleive the west end and the east end is a lot deeper. I think there are lakers in there too. But if you stick to the west end in the back bays and around the islands you should most definitely get into some decent bass and pike!

I fished it 2 years ago and stayed at Fernleigh. There is an island just past the old Camp Kashwakamak to the right when looking at the water from the dock to the right of thee island is a nice weed bed that I jigged with white buck tails and got some nice eating walleye.. Father up the water on the same side of Fernleigh maybe 2 miles we found another honey hole, same thing was jigs worked best. There is a nice Viceroy type cottage and it right in front of that maybe 50 yrd s off shore . Good luck Tom

Thanks for the great info - can't wait to go!

RE: Stumps - I'm worried about running into submerged stumps (as it happened at Col By lake last week out). Are they marked and easy to spot? Are there buoys to mark a path for boats?

i am working right beside fernleigh lodge. there was a gentleman that stopped in with his boat and he was marking the shallow spots, rocks, with jugs, i have never been on lake before so cant say if everything is marked.

Fished this lake for twenty years. It's a tough lake. Browns bay second entrance. There is a weed bed just before you enter the narrows or as you head west from the lodge you will see the three islands on your left. Go past them and you will see a white bouy on your left in a bay , set up there and drift back towards the islands. Drag minnows , leeches on a drop shot. Don,t waste your time going east never had much luck and yes stumps and shallow. Kevin will guide you as well as he won't have a repeat customer if you don''t catch anything. K.m.b.f
