Hey guys, three of us have been planning a trip to Scotch Bonnet for salmon, launching from Wellington tomorrow.... We're in a 17' princecraft with a 115hp. The winds are looking high but staying under 15knots for the am but I'm not sure if the 3.5 hr drive will be worth it.

I'm just looking for some local knowledge on what the lake is looking like? I'm on windguru, wind finder, and the weather network and it seems like the morning could be manageable but there is a wind warning from yesterday and I'm not sure if it's laid down yet. Is it manageable for a 17 footer or should I put off the trip this year?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help

Chewy

I think you are better off working on your honey do list.

I'd put off until Sunday. It would be a slow trip getting there but you would be coming back with the waves. Personally I wouldn't do it in a 17 footer. Just my opinion.

Good choice waiting. It was bumpy this morning. Pounded just west of mcfaul at about 8 mph. Trolled back to east. Off water around 9 9 30. Picked up a Shaker and a 21 lbs. Nothing as we moved into Wellington bay further. I hope to be out tomorrow also.

Shaker was off south side of mcfaul. 21 came off of a little hump just east of mcfaul. We would of circled back... To rough. Dad fell trying to net the fish. Lol. Dave you would of fallen out laughing

Right where Brent landed his 23lber. Did he fall in the net? Too funny, but a lot have done it. Thank God you didn't lose it, or John.

The ride out this morning had some left over rollers from the day before. It was comfortable trolling though.

Dad and I landed 3 23, 12, and 9. Lost 1 and 2 knockoffs. Fun morning of fishing.

Wish we could have stayed longer. We were just getting dialed in.

Took hits on spoons and flies.

Hello Everyone. I Went fishing out of Wicklow at the Mulcaster Patch. Landed 2 Shakers. Saw a 20lb Chinook landed beside us too. Lots of bait fish, but not many hooks. I donau't believe the Salmon are here in good numbers yet. Beautiful day on the lake was had by all.
