I am planning a LONG awaited trip to the bay. Last time I was there was in 1999. We stay in deseronto on the indian Reservation. I am planning a trip finally next year with my kids, same as my dad did with me for years and years.

We do a lot of fishing by I think it was Snake island(think that's what it is called), the Sky bridge(cant think of the road it is), the light house and then there is a dam(snake creek, maybe.....To get to it you go through a long bay of shallow water). Anyone have anything from around these areas? We used to do awesome with Pike, perch and Smallies.

Any info would be great!

I wanted to add that the dam was close to a camp ground called Snookies or Snookers if I remember right.

From what I here the bass are doing good. Pike if you know where they are. Getting to the river should not be a problem. I have a trailer at Snookies but have not been able to get out much. All I hear though is worm harnesses in 9 ft of water on bottom bouncers.

Good luck.

Largemouth bass you will find all over the place. Smallmouth fishing in the bay is the worst i have ever seen it. I haven't personally caught a smallmouth anywhere near snake island to Picton since probably 1999. I remember back then where you always tagged 4 or 5 smallmouth every outing with some in the 4-5 lb range around the bay bridge, but those days are long gone. They left with the crayfish which the bay is now devoid of. It was around the same time the pike fishing went south... zebra mussells ?

Pike is not like it used to be in the 90's either. You can get a few in the weeds, but not in any numbers. I have caught 4 in the last 5 years in and around big bay with 2 of those this year. but if you like sheepshead fishing come on down, they are fun. you can get those every where in great numbers in the bay.
