Hi,

Just to let you all know I just got word from my step-dad, who lives on the Bay right across form Belleville, that a ice breaker has gone threw Belleville harbour and up to the mouth of the Moria. He "heard" that it came in from Adolphus Reach and broke threw all the way up to Belleville.

So be cautions in that area.

I'm worried, if after it freezes up again and snow falls , people on snowmobiles won't see the buckled ice chunks and have an accident.

Have a safe holiday.

Cheers

Aron

I hate it when they do that. Wish they could find a dark spot to park that cement boat too.

Be careful people.

Why would they break the ice past the cement plant? Also when we were there in Nov a cement ship was going down the reach and they were sweeping tons of cement dust off the ship into the reach is this a common legal practice?

This was in the local news the other day. The city of Belleville has had terrible luck with 'frazzle' (sp?) ice causing the banks of the moira river to over flow. The resulting flooding has filled basements and caused all kinds of damage. The ice breaker was hired by the city to keep the ice clear at the mouth of the river in hopes of preventing the flooding.

Does anybody know how often this is going to happen? I guess there will be no going out from Pt. Anne and going all the way across on the atv's or even in trucks. Would be nice to have them warn people well in advance so people know when it is coming or know when it has been here. That would be a shame to have somebody go down because they are going across 12 inches of ice then all of a sudden it turns into 2 inches. We all know how many people go across Big Bay in the winter time.

Actually from what I heard the boat is gonna stay at the mouth of the river as it needs to go at a moments notice.

The icebreaker is going to stay in Belleville all winter to keep the ice free at the mouth of the river.

With all the snow we have on top of a little ice, you couldn't pay me to go out on that.
