Hi guys, Im 17 and have been fishing all my life on open water and have done some ice fishing the past couple of years. I know the basics but would like to become more advanced and I plan on going out every weekend on the bay this icefishing season. Looking for some knowledge on where to go(which area of bay of quinte), what to use, and what depth to setup in. Last season I bought the lowrance elite 4x ice machine. I also have the navionics app on my iphone so i know the contours of the bay. Like I said im just looking for some knowledge on what to look for when finding a spot and do the depths the walleyes are at change depending on the time of season(early, mid, Late).
Thanks for the help, Matt

Well Matt, that's awesome you are so excited. As a general rule most guys set up in depths of 15-25 feet. There is a post on here by tylercurt that will give you some. Spots with decent access. Quinte can be tricky with ice thickness so please be careful. There are known spots where ice thickness can vary depending on current due to narrower areas. Always let know someone where you plan to head and try to get a buddy to go with you. Concentrate your efforts from sunrise - hr or two after as well as the two hrs leading up to dark. Those are when fish are most active. Probably the best advice I could give you is..... Be a frequent reader on this site. Folks will give ice updates as well as reports. As far as lures, everyone has their favorites. Buckshots, champs, jigging rapalas, Cleos , sidewinders, deadly dicks, Swedish pimple and the list goes on. Most jigs you will use will be 1/2 - 3/4 oz. Best of luck and we can't wait to hear your reports

Hey Matt, welcome to the site, here`s a link to areas that are easy to access , these are ones that I have fished over the years. Like Landshark mentioned there will be more info as time goes on. Good idea is to look through some older posts from the winter time frame, lots of good reading and info. Looking forward to reading your posts on your outings.
