The weather was super and we were ready to pick up Laker John's boat and have a go.
The 3rd of Nov was my Dad's birthday, so it was fitting that we spend the day on the water and think of the good times spent fishing.
We launched at the Middle of Hay Bay and fished there for several trolling passes, then we decided to scout around and headed for the cement plant to have a look. Trolled there for an hour without any success, so we headed back to Hay Bay.
We decided to change our not-working plan to something different and trolled a bit higher in the water column. As we enjoyed the sun and the heat (forced us to take part of the survival suit off), the reel screamed and it was a fish.
Removing the board John said, it might be a pike as it bull-dogged down, NO it's a walleye as he slipped the net under the fish and the lure popped out.
We had broken our stretch sans walleyes. This was a nice fish 24.5 inches and a good 6 lbs. A nice fish for the table.
We got the fish on a Flicker Minnow Size 9 in a green glow pattern. They have caught fish for us in the past.
We fished til 1600 and headed to shore to drag the boat out and store it for the next trip.
Stay Tuned.....
