Driving by today it looks as though the upgrades are complete but the fences are still there.

I drove into the launch parking lot yesterday to have a look/see.
The fencing is there but there's an open gate. . So it seems you can now launch there.
There's new concrete next to the ramp itself plus a solid concrete pier where the old wooden one was.
I hope they're not done yet.
As of yesterday there isn't a single cleat or ring to temporarily moor a boat to (while you go park/get your car). Plus right now it's all concrete, no wood facing, so bring your fenders if you don't want to scrape up your boat.
Also the walk from ramp to pier is somewhat improved but there is still two small trees in the way. What's with that?

Tight lines

Additionally the pier itself is considerably shorter so if you get 1 sailboat tied up for a week and 1 other boat tied up while he works on his engines or has the trailer repainted its not going to be fun...what did we expect? I assume it was done for the liability issue in mind and not with boaters in mind. I too hope it is not done.... Dont be surprised to see a "Pay N Display" machine down there

I wouldnt mind a pay and display if the launch and parking is good. As for any clown that would tie their boat up at a public launching dock for a week when there is a full service marina within view. They are just begging to have their mooring lines cut, not saying I would do it or condone it but I wouldnt lose any sleep over it either.

Lots of weeds still in the center of Collins Bay. This is view of the new launch. Not yet open. I hope they put in docks to walk on each side of the launch for those coming and going and waiting. Tight parking when it is busy. Good luck folks.

I understand that it may be opened next week as they're awaiting the last of the materials to complete.

There will be additional work done on the parking lot later...the Church will also be undergoing renovations and when that's done, I believe it will be upgraded then so may be Spring.

The City has had several of the meetings regarding the below link. Please attend and provide input where and while it's most effective.

Cheers

JJZ.....more than a couple of times a year there are sailboats tied up at that pier for a length of time...i spoke to one of them last year that was parked in the middle of the pier and not the ends and it was 1am in the morn....I did point out that the other boats were anchored in the bay and not at the dock.they had a no overnight sign but who can read it at night. We have to remember it is a public launch and not just for fishermen and we have no real choice but to put up with the "public" whether we want to or not
