I am not a seasoned vet like some of the guys; however, I live on the water in Picton Bay and if I put my dock light on after dark gazillions (get the point) of shad
can be seen all around the dock. They show up within 5 minutes of putting the light on. This has happened now for about 3 weeks.

You guys can draw your own conclusions as I am not one to speak on how this affects the walleye bite.

Trolled another 5 hours today, nothing, barely marked anything and I went up one side of the reach (started at Keiths) and down the other and even did a run in the middle. Nothing, did see a bunch of boats up by the Gap so not sure how they did, everyone I talked to today had the same problem, no fish!!!!!

Not sure what the water temp is, but if your above 45 degree's, good luck.

If your between 40 and 45 degree's, you have hope.

If your under 40 degree's, your in the zone.

If you between 32 and 35 degree's, HANG ON TO THOSE RODS!!!

Sorry, Not sure what the temp was, I have it disabled on my unit, I usually don't care what it is as I'm going fishing anyway...lol Then again , I'm only 30 min away

Water temp was 52 last Thursday in Adolphus Reach and 48 last Saturday morning around the cement plant and the air temps were really warm here last week. I would assume it would be at least no higher than 48 anyways.

Had the temp on the reach today around 52. No fish here either fishing from the kayak.

I fished hard inside Tuesday 49.3 temp it actually went up a few degrees from just a few days earlier .......... so much bait in front of the plant total clogged out the screen a few times ........ lots of fish east of the cement plant . no way a fish could be hungry in and around so much bait lol but its gonna happen im predicting a hell of a good ice season lol. and hoping for some December fishing

50 degree water is tough fishing conditions for the reach.

I would focus on long reach, mouth of hay bay, green point, and in front of the cement plant.

I have property by Thompsons and the shads were around my dock 3 weeks before thanks giving, not gazillions.... but plentiful. My guess is the walleyes are well fed and the water temps need to drop as stated above.

There are a lot walleye out there big and small and they are feeding. Trolling is relaxing after a along season of 10,000 or more casts and look forward to it, but you may need to add some elbow grease, get up on your feet and get the arms moving again dust off your jigging spoons. I don't see a lot or any posts mentioned that the anglers stopped to jig in strategic spots. Large schools of bait are in certain areas but there is also smaller schools of bait spread out through the bay by now all the way to Deseronto and Bellville. If or trolling in places where your hoping to find fish and are not hitting, move and find 35' - 40' shelves to jig for a while. Pick 4 places at both ends of your trolling pattern and stay at each for 15 minutes. You may have to put up with catching and a 8 or 10lb fish and not a 12lb. Also don't be frustrated by the posts on this forum. I have been on the bay and have seen days where many boats catch but perhaps only 2% have the story told on this forum. Hope this is helpful.
