With a favorable wind forecast last Wednesday I hooked up the boat, called a retired buddy and headed to waupoos. The owners there have been busy. New roads and leveling of some property looks like expansion plans are in the works. Anyway didn't stray to far from smiths bay/south bay. The water temp was 51.5. First spot we pulled into hit a 5.2 , a good sign but that was it. Then just as were were getting ready to move spots a nearly 8 lb laker picked up the tube of my buddies and after a somewhat lengthy battle on light line the fish was scooped and released. We then spent a lot of time watching the graph as we ran about a half dozen spots. Not a lot of marks. Decided to move out deeper and the graph light up like a Xmas tree. For the next few hours we boated 36 fish with the majority of them 4 lbs. We had more 5 lbers that I stopped counting them. Didn't break 6 lbs but a few fish very close. The go to lure was a strike king coffee tube in a dark color and a few hit on the drop shot too.
