Been fall fishing out of Picton and the Ferry probably 10 times in the fall now. Have had some luck with PB walleye 12 pounds and a few over 10. We have never caught a sheepshead yet, just wondering if there are tips as I would like to see how they fight and get a picture or two.

Should we be heading closer to the gap and work same tactics as walleye or try something different?

Thanks for any and all replies.

Wave to the Lund with the two yamahas and fearfishing.com on the side the next 3 days.

What he said. I caught 5 yesterday trolling for walleye. I've had them break the rear hook off 3 cranks now. The big ones sure are hard on lures. Bend the crap out of or break cheap trebles. I need to go buy some replacement hooks. I'm running out of lures!

Got a 17.2 and 14 lbs today, plus one that torched my set. Gold plugs working for them, not that I'm hunting them, wasted a lot of time digging hooks lose.

I dont think you need to head to the gap, i get them down by the ferry as well so save yourself the run.

Lots of sheephead out there, give it time you will catch one or two or....

Careful what you wish for or you might be posting in the future.... "Last 10 trips all I have caught are sheephead, any tips on catching walleye" lol

Best of luck.

Trying to add picture, not having fun sizing the image but you can clearly make out cement plant behind me and that is a long run from the gap.

You can catch them anywhere in the bay. My point was that the closer you get to the gap, the greater the chance for catching sheep
