Some interesting conversation to say the least! My brother and I have been walleye fishing on Erie for over 20 years, we love it as do many of the others on this site. Due to work and family obligations we never made it to the Bay until last Fall. Yes that is true! Well our experience last year with Nick Werner, one of the local guides was one that we'll never forget and needless to say we were hooked. So this past weekend we trailered our boat on up and over to the BOQ to give it a shot on our own. We're sorry to say that the weekend is behind us but the plans are already underway for the same weekend next year which is our Thanksgiving here in the states. Saturday we were skunked except for what we think was a white fish, Sunday we did much better and caught a total of four. One topped the scales at 13.7, another at 10 and the other two would have been good eaters but they all are swimming the Bay as we speak. Over the years there has been many days where we were skunked, just like this past Saturday. As fisherman we think we have all of the knowledge or the right lure or the desired color and we still go home scratching our heads. The sport of it is trying everything and anything that we have learned from our father, grandfather, a friend, Nick, an article, a video and all other avenues of ideas or suggestions. The attitude, effort and overall enjoyment of being out on the water is truly a blessing and we're fortunate. If it was easy we all would not be looking forward to that next day on the water, that is for sure!
