With next week looking like it may start a cooling trend and may get some fishable ice in early February. I thought I would post a video of some of the highlights from last years ice fishing for lake trout.
We had great success the last couple years through the ice and though I would add ice fishing charters this year for lake trout. We are listed in the guides section on this site and you can visit our website at www.amherstcharters.com

I saw the fish caught there last on TV with Jeff and Ron - real beauties.

Wait til you see my video, should be in the mail this week.

Cheers

Cool video...thanks for sharing. I've never fished for Lakers before. Just curious, what size (lbs) do people normally keep to eat, if any??

Thanks.

Is this the video you took on the summer charter?

That all comes down to personal preference really. The average size of lake Ontario lake trout is 7-10lbs. It is hard to catch under 5lbs I usually don't keep over 8lbs as they get a little oily the bigger they get. I also remove the skin which makes them a little milder as well. Get rid of all the fat too as that is where the contaminants are found.
