Hello everyone, just wanted to get some opinions, suggestions or ideas on a future pitstop for anglers along the narrows. I'm looking at possibly opening a small stop out of my boat house offering bait, drinks, bob on the spot, gas etc. The stop would b directly across from the light house on the north side. Just thinking it over for now.., any input would be appreciated.
Cheers

Personally think that's an awesome idea. I remember as a kid, my Dad and I stopping in at a place that I think may have been close to the White Church that sold bait, some lures, drinks etc.

Until last year, he and I would stop at the Yacht club for a burger when open. So I know I'd use it.

Other than the potential issues with selling live bait (minnows) and license requirements, I've often wondered why something like that isn't available. Don't think it would make a million but I know that would be a dream for me to have if a suitable time.

Cheers

Thanks wisdom, ..like you mentioned I'm not anticipating making millions. Fished the bay all my life, thinking it would be a good spot to stop by stretch the legs or whatever.

Go for it man....Maybe set up a BBQ for some quick food. Probably do pretty good for the first 5-6 weeks after opener.

If you want to attract anglers, post an ice and fishing report along with parking suggestions.

I second the burgers and hotdogs! maybe sausage, and fries too. making your boathouse into a little pitstoop is a good plan and i think it would be popular with everyone on the BOQ.

Probably the license and inspection for selling food would be harder to get then the bait license. You would probably need some kind of insurance also.

When I mentioned food, I didn't mean he should install a full blown out kitchen with deep fryers etc...in his boat house. Not 10 different things on the menu or anything....lol Just a quick hot dog on the BBQ and a can of pop and off you go back on the water. Keep it simple... Just a thought.

Great idea. Unfortunately insurance ,a commercial kitchen and enough paperwork to plaster all the walls in your outhouse (another requirement) would eat most of your profits for the first 10 years. Start by checking with your local municipality. If you attend a church, check out their kitchen, that is pretty much a requirement to offer food. Big brother and lawsuits have pretty much put a small business like that out of reach. I hate to rain on your parade but I suspect this is what you will find.

Don't get too discouraged jkd....there are chip trucks and hotdog carts all over the place ( not on the water). I think it's a great idea and very doable.
Good luck.
I would stop in for sure.
