The ice conditions for the bay are not that great in certain ares due to the weather we have had for the past week. there is still good ice as reported from customers and guides. The hot spots for walleye with good ice are infront of big island and in front of point anne. there is good ice also at potters but the bite has not been as good lately. There are other places that the bite has been reported as good also but,I will not mention them mainly because the ice conditions are far from being safe. If you decide to go to big island the only way is to drive around do not attempt to cross big bay. Let me mention that these reports of good ice vary from man to man that I talk to, so I am not saying that everything is great. So if you decide to venture out please be cautious and dont attempt to do anything that other fisherman are not doing. The reports are a lot of fish are being caught in the hot areas so there really is no need to venture to new areas that may not be safe. The other place I should mention is the mouth of the Trent river. They have opened up more chutes at damn one and there is a lot of cuurent coming through. With this and the mild weather I really do recomend to stay off the trent river at this time. Remember last year we had a drowning in that area with the similar weather and water conditions.
The best lure selections for the bay as reported and determed by demand are as follows #1- rocket #2- williams salty spon #3- hopkins smoothy #4- sidewinders #5- swedish pimple #6- cleo's #7- champs. the next choice is flutter spoons for those finiky fish #1- williams flutter spoon #2- NK walleye spoon or michigan stingers. When the fish get spoon shy the only jig that seems to be consitant is the dace hair jig 1/4 oz to 1/2 ounce tipped with a minnow. The perfered minnow choice is muds and goldens which I now have both of.

Very good report and hope you choose to be a regular contributer on the board with the all the latest conditions of the ice.To travel an hour each way when the ice is unknown is tough. Been fishing scugog almost daily and have been itching to get down your way for bigger fish. Keep the ice updates coming cause when she stiffens up I`ll be coming down to give it a try.
