Has there been anyone out to test the water yet with this beautiful weather we are having or is it just me having the itch to get out in the boat?

My buddies went out in Ontario today and landed five browns and a slime dart. Get out there ;)

Wellington launch on Beach St. is open. a few bergs out floating around in the lake but fishable.
Some green water starting to set up in front of the town.
Haven't seen a boat out yet.

Al

I was up to west point today, still about 50 to 100 ft of ice at the shore.

Laker John and I were at Wellington yesterday, the 7th and this is what we saw.

That darned dock is stopping the ice from flowing into and out of West Lake.

We need a north wind to blow that stuff out and the rest that was gathering at the mouth by the light.

Stay Tuned

winds are whats needed a good north blow followed by a west wind there is a lot of ice 1000 yards out into the lake this keeps blowing the ice back into the channel one day its full of ice the next its gone then its back again. Super dad saw the ice. Trannyman did not. it all depends on the winds right now even if you do get out you had best pay attention to the winds because you might not get back in with a wind shift from the south. anyone should know this risk and know where the ice pack is this time of the year if you plan to run far from the channel

check out the color of the south shore....... this is why the brown fishing is better on that side in the spring

Hey guys made a drive yesterday to Wicklow and Cobourg the Wicklow launch had a 2 foot sand bar across the bottom of the launch and looked to be only a couple feet deep out to the lake but it was hard to tell because the water was so clear. The Cobourg launch was right full of sand to the end of the two piers and then only a foot of water for 5 feet then dropped off but if memory surves me right that would make 4 feet of sand at the launch. I think that it would make it almost impossible to launch a boat at either location without getting your truck stuck in the mud (cobourg) or your boat stuck(Wicklow) until we get some winds to clean it out or they do some spring cleaning. The good news is both locations are ice free.

Made it out fishing yesterday. very heavy fog (Pea Soup) light rains with a soft breeze water temp 35 too cold. no fish but made it out a good shake down for the boat after a short winters nap.
