This symposium has been developed in partnership with the Lake Ontario Management Unit, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry -- but we've been able to hold them to the principle that all the topics should improve catch rates for those who attend.

Here's the line-up:

- Randy Scott turned 30 years of his log books (angler diaries) over to the MNRF to analyze. I personally consider Randy to be one of the top anglers on Lake Ontario. I have been asked to help with a presentation and indicate to the Ministry staff what they should present from an angler's point of view. Randy's log books are very extensive and even cover data like wind direction, wave height, sunlight etc. along with the normal data like lure depth, speed, lure type, etc.
During the 30 years Randy has logged in 12,000 salmon and trout and 50 kings over 35 pounds.

Lake Ontario's Trophy Chinook Salmon Fishery: Prey Fish and Chinook Salmon Dynamics with Perspectives from Lake Huron and Michigan

- Tagged Trout and Salmon: Tracking Fish Movement in the Open Lake

- State of the Lake: A look back at 2015 and ahead to 2016

- Frank Krist: Chair, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Lake Huron Citizens Fishery Advisory Committee. Board Member, Hammond Bay Area Anglers Association

- Participating Speakers From: University of Windsor, United States Geological Survey, Great Lakes Fishery Commission, New York Department of Environmental Conservation and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

- Silent Auction
- BBQ social.
Admittance - FREE

All proceeds will help fund the work of local association projects, and beyond. We recognize that salmon cover a lot of water out in Lake Ontario. We intend to support good work that supports the big picture.

Space is limited. Please Register at:http://bit.ly/OntarioSalmonSymposium "

This sounds like a nice lineup, well suited to those that have an interest in the fishery be it fisherperson, aboriginal harvest participant or conservationist, etc. My hat is off to them. Great idea about the diaries, to get another perspective.

I have seen some of the preliminary analysis of Randy's diaries. Very impressive.
