Over the past couple of years I have received numerous PMs and text messages about rigging for salmon and walleye for the Big Lake. I have done some presentations at the CLOSA meetings about the techniques.

I am thinking about doing a workshop in April and demonstrating the different techniques and the rigging knots required to prevent tackle loss and failure. I will also answer all questions about rigging.

1) - the best leadcore knots and what backing to use.
2) - copper knots and how to measure different lengths of copper and when to use it.
3) - wire line knots, dipsey diver techniques and what settings to use. Best colors to use.
what size wire is best, 20, 30, 40, or 45 pound wire. 7 or 19 strand ???
4) - Cut bait (herring strips) techniques. How to tune the rig for optimum production. Hook size and
the rig length. Hot to make your own Twinkie (3 fly) rigs.
5) - M. C. Rocket presentations. How to tune the Rocket. I have had many inquirers that anglers
have tried them and have had no luck. They haven't figured out how to get the proper roll.
6) - Flasher fly techniques. lead length the the proper line to use rigging your own.
Lead length changes through out the season.
7) - Tying snell knots and the sliding snell.

Like I said we will answer any questions. I am thinking April 23rd or 24th. Probably in my back yard east of Wellington. Indicate which day and whether morning or afternoon would be best.

Al
Send me a PM if interested.

Up-date for Big lake Trolling Workshop.

Carrying Place United Church for Saturday April 23rd.
20 Old Portage Rd.
Carrying Place, Ont.

We will start at 9 am sharp. There will be free coffee before hand.

The first part in the morning will be a PowerPoint presentation on currents and how and where to fish them. When to use leadcore and copper rods. When and how to use dipseys and quad dipsey setups. We will answer questions during presentations.

Short coffee break and then the hands on demonstrations on knots, cutbait and M. C. Rocket rigging. To make it go quicker we have 4 members that can instruct the snell knot and sliding snell. The Rocketman will be present to demonstrate tuning Rockets.

Free bar-b-que at noon. I will have the Grand Slam there with rigging to demonstrate techniques like fixed sliders, Mup rigging spoons, the Thumper Rod, how and when to run different length releases and how rigger weights work. Also how to voltage proof your big lake boat.
(Black Box)

After lunch will continue with the presentation on scents and flasher fly presentations. Also how to make the infamous Twinkie Rig (3 fly). Probably finish around 3 pm. Some of us will hang around as we are cleaning up and answer any questions.

Registration is at 29 attendees now. We will lock it down at 36. (small hall)

Message me if interested in attending,
Al

we are at maximum capacity for the Big Lake Trolling Workshop on the 23rd of April.
Sorry but we can not take anymore request to attend.

It is hard for me to believe that we filled 40 seats in 8 days. I guess there was more interested than I anticipated. :D

We will start at 9 am sharp. Coffee should be ready by 8:30. We are providing a free bar-b-que at lunch. The wife just told me she will be making cakes.

There will be give aways, raffles and some draw prizes.

Should be a good day.

I will up-date about a week before.

Al
