looking for some advice as I'd like to take my 14.5 Lund with 25 hp 2 stroke out for some lake trout fishing this weekend ... assuming the forecast for Saturday holds up and the wind is manageable. Coming from Kingston. Only been on the big water once before (other than BoQ) out of wellington in my small boat and got a nice 22 pound Laker. Heard that the Lake Trout fishing is good on the outside of BoQ, Amherst Isl, Bath, in and around that area. Not interested in eating them, just want to get out and have some fun. Plan on using my 2 downriggers with NK spoons. I'm not skilled in all the other stuff I've read about like dipsy divers, lead line, steel line, etc...

Can anyone tell me a good launch point? And/or good locations? I read another post that the West side of Amherst Isl in 20-60 ft of water was good so that's what I'm going with so far! Tks in advance. Hopefully pics to follow.

Two nearby launches I know if are Pryner's cove in PEC and Finkles shore in Bath. FYI, here's a link to boat launches in BOQ: http://www.quintefishing.com/Boat%20Launches.html

Looking forward to your pics (if any)!

Finkles is close to the south side of Amherst Is, Start in 20-25' and if they're not there, go deeper.

Hoping to be out in April for the lakers.

Not to hijack post but would anyone know if there's a launch closer to the Scotch Bonnet than Wellington?
Tried calling North Beach Park but their launch isn't on the lake side.
Hope to be out there in couple more weeks.

Wellington and Brighton same distance to Bonnet Island. Wellers Bay launch is closer by a couple miles.
You can launch at Northshore Park, Colasante's R V Park & Marina, and Wellers Bay Camp grounds.
But if it blows out of the west your easiest ride is down wind to Wellington.

It's only about a five minute ride. The Navionics Web app has a great tool for measuring distances. Just click on the caliper icon at the right hand bottom and drag pins around.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Would you recommend trying between bath and Amherst island. Or on the lake side?

Question- Does anyone beachfish or surfcast for lakers, brown trout etc in the spring by chance? And yes this is a legitimate question.

Thanks for taking a peek. Good luck everyone.
