Only Flipper was ever known to survive these things. Warned by Lassie on shore of course.

This site shows the number of fish through the counter. It's not always updated daily so be patient.

914 is really low! With the issues of thiamine disease and the DEC reporting a 40% dieoff of steelhead and now very high water levels killing fish this spring it doesn't look good for numbers in the next couple years!

I only got one fish this year fishing from the shores of the big lake, only seen maybe 6 fish caught all together .This explains alot 40 % die off crazy. :( :(

Hey guys the world is not ending yet!!!
counter went in 1st week of march very late this year because ice frozen in the ladder
December /Jan were very mild and a lot of fish were already on there way with out being counted
Feb and early march fishing was great, it was a very cold month and stopped them from running
We had a huge rain (40 plus mm) April 2/3 and the last count was completed on march30 I bet you see a big jump in the numbers next time they complete a lift !!!
Tyler if I am wrong I will supply a few adult beverages for the opener on Friday
Only 17 more sleeps
Great picture Charlie thanks for sharing !!!!

That graph shows that getting the counter in at the beginning of March is not late. Historically the data shows runs do not go full strength to mid March and April. 2012 was a relatively long growing season just like this year will be and the bulk of the run was March 16-19 back then. The last few years with the cold weather runs have gone in the first 2 weeks of April. That being said the bulk of the run should be up and threw by now and I agree the number should jump on the next reading. But I don't see a jump in numbers going up to 5-9000 like it has been for the last 4-5 years. I personally do not see the run going much past 3000 which would b a historic low since 1978.

Lots of fish in Cobourg....mostly up river....have been for awhile............fish lift at Pratts went early because warmer conditions and presence of fish , allowed them to proceed. I realize this run is significantly lower than the ganaraska, but hopefully everthing is fine, just early.

This chart shows when optimum conditions occur for fish movement.
