Today was such a nice day that Laker and I headed out to drive the roads and see the water and or ice, whichever the case.
Hay Bay is full of ice, although there are some big Pressure cracks. We noticed approx two dozen fishers out on the ice. Four orange suited fishers about 200 yds west of the Green Marker at Ram Is.
Some shacks and fishers on the south shore just west of the ramp, four or five close to the Shermans Pt Ramp and four AWAY over on hte Reach, actually close to the line from Shermans Light to Thompsons.
Kinda spooky looking at the ice/water and slush.
Headed over to the Ferry to get to the County. Here's some shots:
No launching here.
Another towards the cement plant, some open water, actualy a line from the Glenora Marina over to Glen Island. Wouldn't even think about going out there.
We headed over to the west side of the County to have a look at the Sandbanks area. Couldn't drive to the beach, so we headed down the Salmon Pt road to see the water. Lots of water and no ice.
Here's what we saw:
Drove from the Sandbanks thru Bloomfield, Wellington, Carrying Place and into Trenton, where we stopped at Turners Tackle and Convenience for a pleasant chat with Randy Turner and his wife.
We talked about fishing -
We did see the ice boats racing around the ice and a whole bunch of others getting ready to do the same as we came into Trenton- Lookslike fun and I know they can really fly.
Headed back to Kingston on the 401 - Nothing else to report.
From what we saw today, the soft water fishing for lakers/browns & bows could start REAL early....
Stay Tuned.
