Went to Brule lake in North Frontenac for a sunny weekend bass opener, stayed at Russ Brown camp which had very decent prices for clean and basic lodging. The only minus is that they turn off electricity after 11pm, which doesn't leave much time for electronics and trolling motor battery to charge fully if you come back from a late evening fish. There's no drinking water in the camps but it has a clean well to pump your water.
The lake: It's a fairly long narrow lake 5 km long and 2.4 km at the widest part, very clear, rocky and deep in the narrows, no weeds nor lilypads were found except for one bay. My brother and I did well with Senkos and crawfish plastics, found most bass in the shallow, rocky points and shorelines, some were caught literally 2 feet from the shore even no fish could be seen. Because the waters are so clear, long casts and fluro leaders are a must. Mud bottoms and fallen lumber areas were not productive. North part was much better than the south, don't waste your time there. Only caught smallies, no largemouth and oodles of rock bass.
BTW, in Navonics, the lake is labelled "Wensley lake" - dunno why.
I tried trolling for lakers in the narrows without success, but marked strange large bands of fishes mixed in with green blobs on my sonar- no real idea what they were but were too large to be schooling fish. The Brule monster? Apparently the middle of lake in front of the camp is a good spot for lakers, which I only found out when leaving : (
