Quinte Fishing

I set out to check the ramp at the ferry 12pm friday. It was all clear except for a few inches of ice right at the base. I liberally applied ice melter and launched my boat. Ramp is in excellent shape.
The fishing was another story-34 degrees marked many fish but no takers. i tried all the favorites-stretch 20's,hj14's,spoonbills you name it! fished shallow and deep, slow and fast. The gods were not with me.
There were 3 other boats. Talked to one who had been trolling for a long time, i brought him luck. There first fish was about 10lbs. That was the only one i saw caught for the day.
i will be out sunday with superdad to try one last time.
It appeared that mcfarlands would be clear to go as well.
The long range forecast is for 8 degrees next thursday-I'll believe it when i see it. These guys can't accurately forecast that far away!

did the fish you were marking seem to be at an particular depth, i plan to go out sat and sun and it is cold fishing with no action, it is good to see so many die hards left...the last time we were out the fish were very difficult to catch also,

Steve the fish were anywhere from 15 feet on down to the bottomwith the majority being on the bottom. To make matters worse i had a stretch 20 on for about 40 minutes. When i brought it in it had weeds and a leaf attached. I never noticed any difference in action *&%#@@**.
Still-a bad days fishing is better than a good day at work!...Larry
