I paid 15 last year and asked why so much. The guy said it actually is jacked up and used as a deterrent as they don't want all the traffic in the parking lot.

What parking lot traffic? Never found it full, maybe for special events. Better launch off Lake Ontario park, it's only 1 km away, launch is cement and with a dock, is free but limited nearby parking...

I wonder if the launch at the end of West st is still free?

ya, 15.43 plus hst. has been a fee for at least last 10 years. Very unmarked, most of the canadian open guys don't know they have to pay, as well as sail boats, power boaters etc. I find mainly power boaters, will launch on saturday and leave there truck/trailer there for a week or so till they get back. there's a parking fee do to this, not new, i am unaware if this applies to day users.
There is very limited space there. This is a marina/ harbor not listed as a public launch. Lake ontario park launch is decent, better used with second guy or power poles/ talons or remote trolling motor. West street limited parking, but i see it used daily.
Season Launch pass is $130
