Here is your
Dr. Piton HTML Tip of the Day:
Why
ask for something you can just
take?
Go to Harry's post in Netscape, and all you have to do is
right click on Harry's
very cool jumping fish, and hit
"view image". [There would be a similar right click command from Internet Explorer, too]
Harry's fish will open up in its own window - this is what you need to happen.
Copy the url of the window.
Put a after the url, and
voila!
What Harry has used is called a
smilie, and this little animated gif file is published somewhere on the www.
If you do a word search on "smilie", you should be able to find pages of the things. People set up website where they have hundreds of these little buggers jumpin' around and doing all sorts of crazy things.
You can copy
anyone's smilie from
anywhere and use it here, or on any web board that permits it.
I have the url's for a bunch of these things copied into an email I have saved, but I tried to get a few up and running here, and none works. They only work if someone still has the thing published on a website somewhere. So evidently the place I took 'em from doesn't use 'em any more.
Duh.
You can click here to
see where I used Harry's fish on another webboard
Note: It is
emphatically not cool to use Harry's fish on
this webboard cuz it's
HIS gimmick. Be creative and come up with your
own gimmick!
Cheers,
Pete
