A visit from the Grandsons was a sure reason to out the Superdad in the water and ply the waters for their last fishing for the year. We hauled the boat to Finkles and set off thru the Gap for the fishing grounds.
Looks like the area is receiving plenty of action as there were six boats searching for the fish.
We set the rods at 1030hrs and after a 20 minute troll, the outer board fired and my youngest grandson, William was into a fish. These long rods are not the best for young anglers but William persisted with help from Grandad and soon the fish came to surface and the net.
William's FIRST pike - an 8lb 11oz speciman. A new PB.
He was a happy camper as he worked very hard to land this one.
We had set a departure time around 1230hrs and as the timer was on for the blower, and with five minutes to go the inner rod fired and Albert (eldest Grandson) was reeling in the board. Even as he is older the struggle was on, reeling to the planer board and the fight was on. The fish dove deep and only at the very end did we see the familiar white tip of the tail on a walleye. Scooped the net and it was ours. A real Fatty, 25" and 6lb 2oz. and a new PB.
Reeled in the rods, fired the motor and head back to the dock, quite a two hour fishing trip with PB's for both boys. Hard to tell who is happier them, their Father or Grandad!!!!!!!
It put the icing on the weekend - Camp supper, Thanksgiving Dinner with Family and great weather to be at Hay Bay.
Stay Tuned
