Anyone hear of any salmon going up the moira or the napaneeriver yet? Was thinking about going up the 7th to visit family and might bring a couple rods and waders

I thought so. By then if there is enough rain it might push a few in.

You won't find any Salmon there yet. Historically they run a little later than the Lake O tribs... might be due to the warm water in the bay. I was down near the Moira river yesterday and the water is trickling down the river... next rain i would have a look though. This will trigger a run.

I was out in Lake O yesterday at Port Hope and they are staging. Picked up 2 20+ lber's that went back. The fish are turning green, so it won't be long. We picked up fish just off the pier in 60 FOW down < 10'.

Awesome that would be pretty cool of you to give me the heads up. I love fishing the moira and napanee because they aren't as packed and over fished like bowmanville and port hope

I was told the salmon are porpoising off of Wellington. I am going to try some trolling in the morning. If nothing... West lake eyes!

Fished off Wellington this morning from 9 - noon in 40-60 ft, nothing biting. Graphed some fish down around 25-40 but nothing biting. We were the only boat out.

The Napanee River is one I would bookmark at October 10 as a general rule of thumb, given its small size and lack of volume, ideal conditions. The Moira should be a bit before in its lower reaches. They are a bit too black for me, by the time they hit the falls, with a biologist friend suggesting to me, that the short distance from Lake Ontario likley has an accelerated life, productivity span.

Just a note.

Salmon Question? I have fished in a fair amount of places, and am curious if rivers like say the Ganaraska have a cleaner looking salmon, noting that the actual run is significantly longer than say the Napanee R, which has them very black, quickly after arriving. So......do any of these beasts appear silver a bit longer out of Lake Ontario?

I see longer runs (Fraser R, Skeena, etc) generally having far greater variation.

Went for a walk down the Moira River this morning. The salmon are starting now.

There is more water flow coming down the might Moira then there was a week ago. Lets hope the rain continues!
