I was at the sandbanks grill on Saturday night for dinner with my boys. We watched a guy hook a salmon from the dock. They are anxious to go give it a try. Does anybody know how much longer the fish will be around? Can you eat these fish?

nothing wrong with eating them but i wouldnt if it was a stagger as the fish are spawning and dying was there many fish around or just the one u seen the guy catch??? i would think they should be mostly done running by now but u always get your late ones

They are all stagers that come into the channel and WestLake. This is thanks to the "pen imprinting " which occurs every spring at the docks. They will still be coming in for the next few weeks but are pretty well done now. Definitely wouldn't be on my plate. They have made their way to my docks, which are 3km from the channel. Wet a line. You'll never know.
