Hey folks,

Just a warning to be careful launching at Finkles in Bath.

Firstly the water is low enough that I had to back trailer in far enough that I put the tires at the end of the steel grate and had to power off. There is a drop off the grate and you could hang up an axle easily. I have an 18' boat so anything larger can be tough.

Second issue is on the pier side of the grate about 4-6 feet into the water there is a large hole where the steel is mangled and bent. Large enough to drop a tire into and risk tearing it or getting hung up. I'd guess it's close to 2 feet or more wide. I'm not sure what could have done this damage but it must have been rather heavy. I couldn't get a good pic because of the waves today sorry. Just stay to the east side of the grate and it's fine.

The town of Bath really needs to do some work there, I'm not sure that it'll survive the winter if there is significant ice movement.

Falleye is starting!

We saw the grate with the steel sticking up and my son got me to avoid it putting the the boat on Thanksgiving weekend. Looks like the water has dropped some more.

Thanks for the warning.

Did one of you notify Loyalist Township about the ramp?

Thanks for the heads up BigMac - we were actually thinking of launching there and fishing the upper gap next Tuesday on our way down to Picton. May now rethink our course of action.

Hi guys,

Has anyone launched a bass boat at Finkle's ramp recently? If so, how was it?

Thanks
Jeff

I looked at it today; I'd say its doable as long as you have someone in the boat to help you miss the hole and to stop you in case you run out of grate.

Failing that, maybe launch off the gravel at finkles or go to collins bay (still good, was only 1 boat there at 2pm today)
