Has all the ice blown out? Is it firming up or going to firm up? We got 3 weeks for it to get hard for the trip.

Well you may be in luck if the forcast holds out . Next 14 days looks at least normal with some cold nights. Most current areas are open with the back bays being very unpredictable.A week of good cold nights we should be back in business in the areas with less current.Lets hope the forcast holds out.

Tight lines,
Duber

Do you know if Picton Bay is still wide open? That is really the only "bay" I have fished up there. We usually fish the reach and/or Picton Bay, occasionally in front of Desoronto.

OK, so if I was heading up this weekend (Feb 11,12....) Would I have any chance at getting out on safe ice over good fishing grounds? I'm itching to nail a big eye through the ice, but I don't want to drive all that way to find out that I'm going to have to fish for perch...... I'm willing to do some scouting and make some phone calls, but if someone from the board can let me know of an access point that has worthwhile fishing, I might not need to cancel this trip.... I'm sitting here with my fingers, toes and eyes all crossed.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the update Marty. It's a 3 hour drive (not much compared to our freinds from the South I know...) but if I'm gonna be forced to fish a weedy bay for perch, I might as well just drive 1.5 hours and fish Simcoe.
Never hear anything about ice fishing on Hay bay. Reports say that Shermans is wide open now. Hay bay is a big body of water, I'm sure there's still safe ice in places. Does anyone ever head out by Ram island?

Went the long way to work yesturday . Almost cried when I saw open water all the way from Big Island to past Desoronto. Can't imagine there will by any safe fishing this weekend.I don't know what Hay Bay is like but around Big Island is normaly the best ice on the bay so I don't think it will be good anywere.I would head to Simcoe if I were you.Good luck were ever you go .

Tight lines
