I myself use the FishHunter- I have found it to be a great little unit for both hard water and soft water seasons. Yes it even has a flasher mode and can run it off my phone (or tablet) by bluetooth or wifi. As I always have my phone, this is my preferred device and set it up on small tripod. The unit itself fits easily enough into a pocket and lasts a whole day of fishing. Now, you may ask, why not just buy a flasher, well I wanted something portable that i could take with me everywhere as during the warmer months, I only fish from my yak, so I don't have to worry about mounting the unit somewhere, dealing with extra cords, etc when space as it is is already tighter in a yak. The other nice aspect of it is that you can cast it out if you are fishing from shore on a smaller lake and see what's happening below. My two cents.
