Quinte Fishing

So I am just getting into ice fishing. I've been out a few times this year and love it. I've also spent a ton of cash and set myself up with a bunch of gear...and I'd like to use it!

I'm wondering about decent lakes with solid ice and good access to fish, possibly a few hours drive if need be (from Belleville area). I have a bunch of time off coming up and we're in for some warm weather here .

Ideas? The more info the merrier!

Hi and Welcome to ice fishing. If you looking for walleye Zone 17 is closed with the exception of Crowe Lake. It also has Pike and the regular little guys. Stay well away from the lakes inlet and outlet they never freeze properly. Best access is off of Blairton Road on the west end of lake. I have no idea how the ice is I have not been out yet this year. Another spot if you like crappie bluegill and perch is Rice Lake. Balieboro is the best spot on the west end with lots of parking and access. Also out front of Elmhirst Resort between islands and mainland. Don't park at the end of the road where the ramp is. It is his ramp and private and your vehicle will not be there buy time you get back. Park on the side road heading to the west. Unless you know the lake real well don't go any farther east I live on the east end and right now if the ramp wasn't froze over I could put my boat in the water. Those are about the only 2 places I know good luck and be safe.

If your into Trout fishing type "fish on line" into your web browser, you can enter a location for instance Bancroft and select a species and it will show you on a map what lakes have been stocked with the fish you are looking for like Brook Trout or Splake, the year they were stocked and the number fish stocked.
