After years of using a manual knife on piles of pannies, I got my first electric fillet knife for Christmas this year. I got the berkley deluxe electric knife and put it to work the other day on a mess of perch. I was so surprised at how badly it worked. Blades were hard to lock into place and it was horribly underpowered, overheating and bogging down on 10-12" (not frozen) perch. I can't believe berkley put thier good name on such an inferior product.

So, I want to get a good one...let's hear what you guys have used and what is good/bad about other brands?

I have used the Berkley and you are right a real piece of crap. I grew up using moms electric turkey knife lol and to this day I think the best is the 15 dollar knife you would buy for moms kitchen at Walmart after time the blades get dull so you toss it out and get another one lol

I still use my Walmart special, had it for about 10 years and starting to get a bit worn and hot after 1 hr of cleaning, might go back to Walmart and see what new ones they have...

I love the Berkley knife. That's all I use. It works great. I used it on walleye all summer and we even use it on the birds at thanksgiving

We have tried all the fishing brand electric fillet knives. The best ones to have are the house hold ones we have found

I have the rapala 120v heavy duty. It works great and doesn't over heat.

I have the rapala electric seems to stand up to anything, also have the old style american angler I find its a better working knife then the rapala only fault is the handle is a bit to large, the newer ones have a smaller handle.
