My nephew and I spent the day on the ice yesterday. 6 inches everywhere we went and it was making a lot of noise by the time we left. It was my nephews second time out, he managed three between16 and probably 28 inches. I kept my two year skunk going. The fish were all caught after 230 on a small gold spoon. The big one is still swimming, the others are going to make for a fine fish fry. We didn't get a chance to measure the biggest as we were eager to get her swimming again. Thanks to everyone on this board for keeping us updated on the conditions and fishing.

Great catch for your nephew, that big one will be one to remember. Bet he's eager to get back at it.

Woohoo, that is awesome to see. I will probably keep trying there because it's so close to home for me and I'm unfamiliar with the other places. I haven't had any luck there yet though, fishing with mostly lipless cranks (rippin raps).

Wow, that's crazy! Are those rentals active? Do you know who owns them?

Is Potters frozen pretty solid from shore to shore. I'm heading out in the morning and wanting to bring the kids out in the afternoon. Any known concerns at this point?

I was out Tuesday night and we were sitting on a good 7 inches about half way across, from what I've heard it's about 7 everywhere around there. You can still see the odd bad spot that I imagine is frozen enough to hold but we went around them anyway just to be safe.

What do the bad spots look like?

They stick up more than the ice, kind of looks like snow and water froze together. They're pretty easy to notice and we only seen a few spots, just have an eye and you should be good.

I'm out on potters right now.... about 500m from launch and measured 8.5 inches. An atv drove out further. Very solid where I am.

If you're looking for potters, search for quinte conservation area on Google maps and it will show you the parking area.

Has anyone been having success here? I'm been hitting the same general area, never seen a walleye yet. Perch and whitefish, and I've been glued to the underwater camera, lol.

I going to go a bit further out next time and try once or twice more and look somewhere else if no walleye.
