I'm not really trying to down play here but I am saying there is alot of people trying to UP PLAY this situation.... lets use a little logic here ok........ your picture shows the flow going directly away from the water intake area I'm sure they had better pictures showing the village and the treatment plant but they are not printed now are they? the reason is that the slick is no where's to be seen in that area, yet they want you to believe the intake is swamped with fuel oil from the spill. people who do not live around here do NOT know that little fact.

Water intake is 3.6 meters below the surface. the slick is on top of the water unless you want us to believe 30,000 gallons of gas has filled the bay . we have all seen a drop of gas in the water from our boats and in 10 seconds one drop will cover 4 square feet on the surface but its still just one drop of gas this happens every time you start a 2 stroke motor soon they will take away boat motors??

I'm sure the county has already drafted letters to the government looking for emergency relief funding as we speak so its only natural to up play and make things look as bad as possible in hopes of funding simply saying 200 gallons of gas is in the water and we are in dyer need of help probably wont be consider emergency status. and no funding granted .

There has been a burn ban issued in ALL of Prince Edward county because of this gas spill should we believe every time there is a fire they only use water from picton to put out a fire that in lets say Allison Ville or Consecon both 30 miles away ?

They have known for a long time about water issues in picton this is why they want to link pipe to wellington and start drawing water from lake Ontario instead of trapped water from picton bay that is 2 alms from the old city dump in delhigh park that is no doubt still leaching pollution into the bay. and the sewage treatment plant outlet is directly upstream from the water inlet whos great idea was that? ....... could this be a reason why out water bill has gone up 100% in the past few years? a plan for relocation of the water treatment plant that was just completely overhauled to stat of the art just 10 years ago?

Do you not think it would be a much cheaper cost to lay under water pipe out to Adufus reach than it would be to take up 30 miles of roadway and burry pipe to wellington and then build a bigger plant to handle a demand of water back to picton?

Your picture one day later I saw first hand video footage of them trying to pump nasty old bilge water from that very barge right into the bay a 40 year old work barge that has never been cleaned out of old oil and spilled fuel oil and god knows what else old grease, rust yadda yadda yadda and the environment people right there watching it happen this video footage has not been shared to the public. is it to make the slick look even worse? if so they did a bang up job of it hell for all I know that's the same day the plane picture you show was taken. I believe your are supposed to abate not make things worse.

Again I'm not down playing I just think there is more to this issue than they are wanting to say and yes I think they are up playing it a bit an it is no secret a lot of people would love to get rid of this industry along with the cement plant that has been there for 60 years .

I don't know about the rest of you but I think we should all blame Donald trump for this issue and send a bill off to the USA

Here is another good article.

http://wellingtontimes.ca/port-in-a-storm/

I am situated right across the Bay. There is oil in the water right off my shoreline, not much, less than two days ago, but still too much. Griz, you previously mentioned "not to make a mountain out of a molehill"! Yes, this is probably just a "molehill"; however, the "mountain" part could be just a matter of time. By the way, I thoroughly enjoy your posts...on fishing!

Mind if I ask how long you have owned your house on the bay? are you a county native? I must admit of all the beautiful places along picton bay you have one of the worst views of the bay that I can possibly think of just imagine how much your property value would go up if they would take down the cement plant and stop the terminal improvements.. why is this post even on a fishing board ? .. Pollution is BAD there is no such thing as GOOD POLLUTION but you must know Pollution is world wide lets be real here you don't like what I have to say but I'm not affected as much as you are my water does not come from picton but I cant have a fire in my back yard because of a burn ban all due to picton water treatment plant .......... if you are worried about ships then all shipping in the great lakes should be stopped today do you not agree? My Water bill has gone up 100% yet 80% of the county is still on well water I witnessed 3 privately owned trucks lined up in wellington to get water yesterday no doubt its going to picton since amalgamation wellington tax payers wont get a dime but the county tax payers will have to pick up the bill and my tax bill goes up every year almost 100% in the past 15 years and for the record this discussion helps keep the topic at the top and its viewed by more and more people many of whom will be more on your side than mine not that I really have either a side or an agenda

A boil water advisory? Boiling water will not make it safe if there is petroleum in it.

They often do this when they shut down one system and use an alternate one.....just in case the pipe, or whatever, that hasn't been used in a while is not contaminated by other sources.Dont know if it applies to Picton.Sometimes they just bring in water
