So the other night i went out to burn some gas and tried to change my contour range highlighting and could not find it, where i thought it was comes up " Legacy mode only" or something like that. I haven't seen that before any ideas? Does it have anything with me not renewing my chart ?

If you have recently updated your Lowrance software that is probably what it is. The new software update recognizes your Navionics freshest data subscription and will not allow you to use certain features (sonarcharts 1' contours, depth highlighting, etc) if your subscription is expired.

Wow....some upgrade. Sounds like collusion between the two companies. Taking features away isnt right. Thanks for your help Scott

I couldn't agree more Jim. It was a "takedate" not a update

Dan...got this from another site
The suggestion by KHedquist is an excellent suggestion, and actually should be performed each time you perform a software update. The easy way to "Save" your existing settings is:Pages, Files, My Files, Settings database. When you touch Settings database you'll get a Pop-Up asking to select a destination folder, choose My Files. then select OK. When you press OK, another pop-up will appear giving you the option to create a new file OR, once you've done this and created a saved settings file, you'll select it henceforth. I name mine Settings For Me.set and it saves on the hard drive of your unit. After you have your settings saved, go to Pages, Settings, Restore defaults. A pop-up will appear and will have Local Settings, Global Settings and Alarm History already checked. If you leave Waypoints and routes, Trails and Autopilots un-checked those files will not be deleted or changed and really no need to make a backup of them unless you just want to. After you've performed the above (only takes a few minutes) then do the following and you should be good to go!

On your chart screen, go to Menu, Chart Options, View, Fishing Range....Got this reply from another site

Jim,
Did that fix your issue with the contour range highlighting? I think what Kirt is suggesting is just to save time after the update if you've lost your preference settings but shouldn't make a difference with functionality. I could be wrong as I'm no longer working for Navionics so not as up to date as I used to be but it sounds like that is what he is talking about.

The loss of functionality on your chart plotter after the new update is very similar to the mobile app with regards to the mobile app subscription. When it is active you have things like contour shading, shallow water shading, depth highlights etc. The new chart plotter update simply recognizes your Navionics SD cards freshest data subscription and now disables those features on your chart plotter as well. It definitely kinda sucks for user.
