Soldier On Bay Of Quinte
Hey guys, looking for some help. This fall I had the opportunity to attend a Soldier on Event that taught the basics for Fly Fishing. I was really impressed at the support they were given so I thought I would try something like that in our region. I was talking with the organiser about possibly doing the same for Bay of Quinte Fishing. They usually take about 10 injured vets or injured serving members of the CF and try and get them out to try something new. These could be individuals from all over Ontario. I’m looking at taking them fishing for possibly 1 or 2 days on the Bay, morning fish for Walleye and possible afternoon fish for Bass or evening Walleye. What I need is 11 or 12 boats and the ability to supply tackle as well for the 1 or 2 days, this way there is a 1 on 1 with the applicant. Individuals will be put up in Trenton on the base and looked after there for meals and such so I was thinking launching in Trenton or Belleville either one can work. Looking at mid week just after Bass opener some time. Just putting this out there now to see if there is any interest in helping out. If you're interested in helping out please email me at tylercurt@hotmail.com or reply under this thread. Thanks
Tim Sansom (tylercurt)

I am willing-have a 17 ft Lund and all the necessary rods etc. have the time . As an old RCN pilot a great idea.
All that I don't have is any ability as a fisherman.

If I can help let me Know.

It would be an honour to take part in this ! When you get a firm date please send me an email. I live in ottawa so it will take a bit of planning for me to get up there.
Also, if you have trouble finding enough boats I have a 19 foot ranger and can easily accommodate 2.

My email is andrewabouhanna@yahoo.ca

I would be more than happy to volunteer for this event. A meet and greet the night before would be good as well to understand what if any limitations your partner may have So you could be prepared the morning of with rods and reels (left retrieve right retrieve) trolling casting jigging etc. Sounds like a great idea to give back to our men and women serving. I will send you an e mail with my contacts.

The walleyes only crew would be honoured to take part in this worthy event. We could accommodate one person with the three of us. We could also make arrangements for wheel chair access as we have a 18 ft deep v boat with removable seat posts and three strong guys to lift.

Love this idea. Would be coming from a bit of a distance....on the shores of Lake Erie......Waterford, about 3.5 hrs away.
Have a 19/5' Wilker - deep V Lake Erie boat. Would be more than happy to venture up to Quinte if my boat were needed. Will contact you with my contact information.

Cheers,
Balleye

We at MCI hosted 30 Wounded Warriors with fishing for Muskies this past summer and let me tell you, it was one of the most humbling experiences of my almost 70 years of existence. I searched around local food stores and managed to get enough burgers, brats and buns donated for the BBQ and we had hats made to commemorate the day. Enough for all including the volunteer anglers.
I still have chills when I think of the comradery and laughter at the BBQ and campfire at the end of the day.

Good on you for organizing this event. :D

I'm interested also. I am active military and have a 17 foot fish and ski with all the goodies. I've just had my first year on the water and am still learning however with a bit of planning and some advice from participants and this forum I'm sure I can make it work.

I'm not sure how exactly this works but it could possibly be a good idea to have 2 or more boats "partner up", especially in the case of one experienced guide more or less, with a couple of people either new to the area or to the sport. There would be many perks to doing something like that.
